Pregnant women
A pregnant woman living in Estonia whose pregnancy is identified by a physician or midwife has the right to health insurance.
Insurance will commence upon making the entry into the health insurance database.
The Health Insurance Fund will make the entry within five days of the receipt of correct documents.
Health insurance terminates three months after the expected date of delivery as determined by a doctor or midwife.
Options for submitting a certificate by a physician or midwife and the application are as follows:
- In the state portal service ‘Applying for health insurance (pregnant, studying abroad)’
- digitally signed by email to info [at] tervisekassa.ee (info[at]tervisekassa[dot]ee),
- by regular mail
The certificate of pregnancy must contain the following data:
- name of the healthcare service provider
- address of the seat of the healthcare service provider
- activity licence number of the healthcare service provider
- name of the physician or midwife and their registry code number
- contact details of the physician or midwife
- first and last name of the pregnant woman
- personal identification code of the pregnant woman
- pregnancy week
- estimated due date
- signature and stamp of the physician or midwife
- date of issuing the certificate
